L’ Ange Boheme by Sarah MacGregor-Norrie

I am an award winning, Edinburgh based couture millinery designer and my work has been exhibited in several high profile hat making exhibitions in the UK and abroad.

I specialise in one-off and bespoke occasion hats and headpieces with a timeless appeal. All of my pieces are designed and created in my home studio in Edinburgh.

I specialise in using a combination of traditional couture millinery techniques, such as hat blocking, silk and leather flower making, wire work, couture embroidery and hand beading for a highly unique and distinctive look.

My hats are all one-off creations and a labour of love. They are made by hand from start to finish and take many hours to complete.

I began my working life as a textile designer in London and Italy after graduating from The Royal Collage of Art, before moving back to Bonny Scotland to start a family and embark on a career in art education. During a career break, I rekindled my love for making things and discovered I had a flair and passion for millinery.

My love affair with hats and hat making was born from a love of old school glamour and the theatricality and flamboyance of fashion, a strong aesthetic sense and an overwhelming desire to create beautiful and timeless pieces, the antithesis of and as an antidote to the mass produced, glue gunned, crinoline hideousness that is the regular high street offering.

In short, I couldn’t find a hat I would want to wear. I decided to take matters into my own hands and I haven’t looked back.

I believe that a hat shouldn’t ever be an afterthought, but rather given equal or even more significance than your outfit- What other piece of attire gives you more of an opportunity to show your unique style and individuality?

It is my pleasure and privilege to make couture hats and headpieces at an affordable price, for the discerning women that wants something a little different,  that sets her apart from the crowd.

I happily undertake customer commissions and can consult with you to design your perfect piece.

Couture hat making is very labour intensive, please allow between 2-3 weeks for your hat to be made, once you have decided on the design.
